Bydgoszcz Ignacy Jan Paderewski Airport The beginning of Bydgoszcz Aviation dates back to the I World War – it was founded then by German Aviation Authorities. It came into Polish hands only in January 1920 year and since then to the end of the 20’s it was used by Polish army.

The beginning of Bydgoszcz civil aviation dates back to 1929 year – in June PLL “LOT” opened the first connection with Gdańsk, Warsaw and Poznań, which with certain breaks were held until the year 1933.

During the II World War and after that Bydgoszcz Airport was developed, but communication flights offered by PLL “LOT” were restarted only after the year 1948 and with a ten-year break in the 60’s they were offered at Bydgoszcz Airport until the year 1981. For a short period of time connections between Poznań and Gdańsk were started but the longest and most popular connection was that between Bydgoszcz-Warsaw.

Activities aiming at restarting civil Bydgoszcz Airport were undertaken in the year 1992 due to national economic changes taking part in the country.

Bydgoszcz Ignacy Jan Paderewski Airport1 In order to open the Airport, Bydgoszcz Aviation Association Limited Liability Company was founded, which operated until June 1995, and then it was transformed into a joint-stock company Bydgoszcz Airport SA. This company manages the Airport until today and it has transformed the regional airport into an international one. Bydgoszcz Airport is a holder of Minister of Transport and Maritime Commerce License. It operates regular connections with Warsaw, charter flights and ‘general aviation’.

Since 30th October 2005 I. J. Paderewski International Airport has been operating daily flights Bydgoszcz- London, Since second May Bydgoszcz Airport has been providing flihts Bydgoszcz-Dublin (twice a week), and since 28th October has been providing flights Bydgoszcz -Liverpool-Bydgoszcz (twice a week). Since January 2008 it will be possibility to fly from  Bydgoszcz to Belin, Kopenhagen and Katowice.

Bydgoszcz Ignacy Jan Paderewski Airport2 On May, 11-th 2007 Bydgoszcz Airport S.A. was certified by polish CAA which confirms it can be managed according to legal acts. This certificate is donated to those airports which operate in compliance with security standards confirmed by auditory unit selected from CAO. The process of certification, which took place at Bydgoszcz Airport S.A. proves that the airport is in readiness to operate safely and is also secured in appropriate way according to Polish and EU Law.

Works on the new terminal started on 29th June 2002 year was completed on 01st May 2004 year and the building was awarded in the contest “Building of the Year 2004” by Polski Związek Inzynierów i Techników Budownictwa and Ministry of Infrastructure and The General Office of Building Control.
